The award-winning Safe Haven, providing people experiencing a mental health crisis with professional out of hours support, is now available across Surrey.
From the first pilot in Aldershot, to Camberley and most recently Guildford, Catalyst and The Welcome Project have been involved in developing and delivering this resource, working in partnership with Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust and the different Clinical Commissioning Groups. Others are open in Epsom, Woking and Redhill in partnership with different third sector partners.
With professional staff, including mental health practitioners able to carry out mental health assessments if needed, wellbeing workers and increasingly, peer support in a welcoming setting, Safe Havens can offer an appropriate alternative to A&E for those experiencing mental health problems and their carers.
