About the role
This is an opportunity to “give something back” in a positive way by using your own knowledge and experience of living with, and recovering from, mental illness or of caring for somebody who has mental health problems.
As an integral and highly valued member of the team, the Lived Experience Practitioner will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to people using the service. In particular, the Lived Experience Practitioner will support the smooth transition of people using the service to other Mental Health services, by helping them to complete recovery and crisis plans for example. Through working with the individual, they will promote choice and opportunities to enable feeling connected to and valued in their community.
In responding to local need, this role has a particular focus to engage and work with individuals in the 18-25 age bracket, to include building relationships with local services and offers, and providing outreach support to enable individuals to engage with and access wider community and health services.
You will help people to focus on achievable goals using a strengths based approach whilst remaining calm and professional in any stressful or challenging situation.
This role would be suitable for someone who is kind, caring and supportive, with good interpersonal and communication skills, and who is keen to provide the highest quality experience for people using GPiMHS/MHICS.
