Volunteer for us

Group of people

Volunteers are essential to helping Catalyst deliver support across a wide range of people and need. We currently have over 80 volunteers in different roles working as counsellors, helping to run our book / vinyl store, helping with activities in Community Connections and supporting many other aspects of our work throughout Surrey.

We could not achieve what we do without their support. Some of our volunteers are people who have engaged with our services and want to have the opportunity to support other people in similar circumstances. And for some it can be a step towards a return to employment.

Whatever the reasons for volunteering, Catalyst offers support and training where appropriate.

We are looking for volunteers to fill the below roles (click links to find out more about each role and how to apply):

Volunteering Roles with Catalyst

Catalyst are always looking for people who want to commit to helping us further our aims in a reliable way. Opportunities include:

  • Bookshop Volunteers – could you spare a few hours a week to help at our lovely local bookshop? To read more about out bookshop click here.
  • Amigo Volunteers – become an Amigo and help people make connections with local community activities whilst helping to boost confidence and increase motivation. To find out more click here.
  • Administation roles – we have offices across Surrey and can always do with some additional admin support.
  • Volunteer Counselling / Group facilitator – are you a qualified counsellor that would like to give us a few hours each week. We hold counselling sessions and groups across Surrey for people affected by drug and/ alcohol use. Read more about Reach Out Counselling.

All volunteers with Catalyst will need to be open to supervision which is an opportunity to discuss their progress  – this is very much a two way process to ensure volunteers enjoy their time with us. There is also a requirement that volunteers complete an enhanced DBS check and attend mandatory free training such as safeguarding children and adults.
