Hours: 28 or 35 hours per a week (4 or 5 days week dependent on hours worked)
Salary: £26,000 pro rata
Location: The role is based in central Guildford, travel throughout Guildford and Waverley will be required.
About the role
The Buddy Project helps support people into taking up new activities in the community that will enhance their wellbeing and support recovery from mental ill-health. Beneficiaries of the project include anyone who is feeling isolated because of the mental health or who feels they need to expand their horizons and reintegrate within the community.
To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of working with people in a support role, experience of advice work would be an advantage. You will need to have an understanding of the issues that people referred maybe facing and be able to work with a wide range of people in an empathetic and non-judgmental way. You will be organised, able to work independently and manage your time well to ensure you are able to meet challenging workloads. You will need to be a confident IT user.
Working across the Guildford and Waverley CCG area and Farnham the post holder will:
- Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteer buddies who will in turn support project beneficiaries
- Work with referring organisations to ensure the project receives appropriate referrals and that people who would benefit from the project can easily find information on how to get involved.
- Keep a database of local suitable community activities and resources for the volunteer buddies.
The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
