Job Title: Welcome to Volunteering Coordinator

Team: Welcome Buddies

Job type: Fixed term contract until 1 October 2022. Possibility of extension subject to funding.

Hours: 28 hours per a week (4 days week)

Salary: £26,000 pro rata

Location: The role is based in central Guildford, travel throughout Guildford and Waverley will be required.

About the role

Welcome to Volunteering is a lottery funded project helping to support people into volunteering placements.  Beneficiaries of the project are people who might find it hard to take up volunteering without extra support because of mental health issues. Clients may have additional needs such as physical or sensory impairments or learning difficulties, maybe lacking in confidence, be long term unemployed, carers, ex-offenders but the main criteria for support is that they have problems with mental health.

To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of working with people in a support role, experience of advice work would be an advantage. You will need to have an understanding of the issues that people referred maybe facing and be able to work with a wide range of people in an empathetic and non-judgmental way. You will be organised, able to work independently and manage your time well to ensure you are able to meet challenging workloads. You will need to be a confident IT user.

Working across the Guildford and Waverley CCG area and Farnham the post holder will:

  • Work with Volunteer Involving Organisations to increase their understanding of working with volunteers with support needs and the benefits to the organisations of so doing, and to develop suitable opportunities for clients of the project.
  • Work with referring organisations to ensure the project receives appropriate referrals and that people who would benefit from the project can easily find information on how to get involved.
  • Work with clients to place them in volunteer opportunities and give appropriate support so they can sustain their volunteering.

The post holder will complete a Team Leader apprenticeship course (subject to eligibility criteria) during their working hours to support their work.

The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
